The Republic of New Africa vs. the US Government: Dissent and Repression in the RNA-1968-1973

RBG The Republic of New Afrika Historical Collection

The Republic of New Afrika (RNA), was a social movement that proposed three objectives. First, the creation of an independent African-American-majority country situated in the southeastern United States. A similar claim is made for all the black-majority counties and cities throughout the United States. Second, the payment of several billion dollars in reparations from the US government for the damages inflicted on Africans and their descendants by chattel enslavement, Jim Crow segregation, and persistent modern-day forms of racism. Third, a referendum of all African Americans in order to decide what should be done with regard to their citizenship. Regarding the latter, it was claimed that African-Americans were not given a choice in this matter after emancipation. The vision for this country was first promulgated on March 31, 1968, at a Black Government Conference held in Detroit, Michigan. Its proponents lay claim to five Southern states: (Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina); and the black-majority counties adjacent to this area in Arkansas, Texas, North Carolina, Tennessee and Florida.

NEW PANTHERS IN COURT FRIDAY!

On Friday, September 26th, two of the five members of the New Black Panther Party who faced arrest after the police attack on Sunday’s Harlem Day Parade, will be in court to answer the charges they have been faced with.
They will appear at 100 Centre Street, Part F, in Manhattan at 9a.m.
“The community should pack the court for these young warriors who put themselves on the line in their defense,” insisted Sis. Khadijah X of the Party’s Brooklyn chapter.
Sis. Khadijah’s son, Hannibal, was among those arrested and will be in court on Friday.
This past Sunday, the New York City Police Department, in a reckless and outrageous expression of police abuse,senselessly attacked the New Black Panther Party’s contingent in the highly regarded annual Harlem Day Parade. The incident resulted in five members of the Party being arrested and several officers sustaining injuries.
The appears to have been set off by the unwarranted pushing of a Panther who was doing nothing more than keeping his contingent in line as they were marching in formation up 135th Street by a police officer. The behavior of the police infuriated participants and spectators alike and could have easily degenerated into a full-fledged riot where scores of people could have been hurt on both sides. The five Panthers arrested, whom the community is now calling the ‘Harlem 5,’ are now facing charges ranging from disorderly conduct to assaulting a police officer.
This coming Sunday, September 28th, there will a community-based critical review of the incident at the Harlem chapter’s weekly meeting. This will take place at the National Black Theatre, on the corner of 5th Avenue and 126th Street at 12 noon , and there will be a speak out on the streets immediately afterwards in front of the Harlem State Office building after Sunday’s meeting about 2p.m.. They are being guided every step of the way by their national chairman attorney Malik Zulu Shabazz and have vowed to continue to “raise hell,” in his language. Any witnesses to the incident are especially encouraged to come out and participate in the dialogue.

What's the most efficient way to deal with a 'freedom fighting revolutionary' who has a growing following? That's easy. Kill him! Unfortunately, we're not discussing some old Rambo knock-off, but instead a riveting b&w documentary that focuses on the short life of Fred Hampton, the founder of the Illinois chapter of the Black Panther Party, who, at the age of 21, was assassinated by a FBI-organized unit of the Chicago Police Department as he lay face down in his bed. The charismatic young activist's life and work is a powerful revolutionary lesson, as he rallied the people to rebel against the oppressive power structure and educates supporters that if a "pig" gets in their way, simply pull your gun and "blow him away."

Chairman Fred and the Panthers establishing free clinics and pre-school meals in poor neighborhoods, setting up a mock trial, discussing politics, being accused of an ice cream truck robbery (which led to a 25-year prison sentence for Hampton!), arming themselves in case of attack, and happily celebrating when cops are shot during a raid on their HQ. Hampton's death occured in the pre-dawn moments of December 4, 1969, when the police fired 99 rounds into his apartment. We witness footage of the crime scene, Fred's blood-soaked mattress, bullet-riddled walls, plus Hampton's funeral, even as the police claim that the occupants shot first (though there isn't one bullet hole in their direction to prove it) and the corporate media mindlessly regurgitates this propaganda. Although doctors, experts, reporters, eye witnesses, and even the physical evidence refute all of these police "facts," a piece of shit State's Attorney named Edward V. Hanrahan commends the cops for their use of deadly force and pigheadedly stands by every lie. Gosh, I'm surprised the guy isn't part of the Bush administration nowadays. Sure, it's biased, but with damned good reason. This scalding, thought-provoking, 89-minute film opens viewers' eyes to a socio-political movement rarely covered fairly by the media and demonized by the government and police. And unbeknownst to anyone at the time, one of the Panther's own members, William O'Neal, was actually a traitorous FBI informant who helped coordinate Hampton's murder. An open-minded portrait of the Black Panther Party. Chairman Fred provided an intelligent and passionate voice to our people during the height of times when our voice was unheard and ignored.

As should be expected, there is a bit of crossover in the support for Obama. For instance, Joseph Nye, vice chairman of the Trilateral Commission, supports Obama. Nye is also a Bilderberger and a member of the CFR. Nye, along with Robert Keohane, developed theories on neoliberalism, theories now in play starving and immiserating millions around the world.

In fact, Obama has gathered under his tent — that is to say, the tent erected for him — a regular melange of globalists and one-worlders. “The Obama campaign has thus far been shown to represent: the Ford Foundation, the Trilateral Commission, the New York Council on Foreign Relations, the Chicago Council on Foreign Relations, the Bilderberger Group, Skull and Bones, the RAND Corporation, the Soros foundations, the Rockefeller family, and the Friedmanite Chicago School of economic genocide,” writes Webster Tarpley. “Obama is the Manchurian candidate groomed and indoctrinated by these financier-controlled groupings. As president, Obama would impose a regime of crushing economic austerity and a new set of foreign wars far worse than what has been seen under Bush.”

In other words, the more things change the more things stay the same, but according to Tarpley worse ( BTW I have studied and access Tarpley as a white racist of the Alex Jones type too). And that’s why it is disgusting to see Black folk (New Afrikan people) sucking up to white racist corporate media whores such as Tim Russert and Keith Olbermann. Russert and Olbermann are onboard with the Trilateral Commission, CFR, Skull & Bones, the Bilderbergs, the Rockefeller eugenicists, the Ford Foundation, and their perpetual war, depopulation, and climate change agenda.

But then, if they were otherwise, you wouldn’t see them on television.

So what is the difference from an Obama in the White people's house, representing their interest and a thug on the street. Remember, "Thug: A person, often a criminal, who treats others violently and roughly, especially for hire" I'll tell you the difference; a thug on the street will hurt / kill his own kind, but his evil can never measure up to the millions Baracka Obama will have hurt / kill to live up to the name of a Good United (Snakes) States President given his friends...Like all the people of color Collin Powell had to kill, until he got sick and quietly bowed out (to prevent them from doing a Ron Brown him, I suspect).

How The Division Of Our Nation Arose

Today Africa is divided into over 50 different and dis-unified countries as a result of the European (white) Imperialist impact on Africa. Prior to European colonialism, Africa was in a historical march that was moving toward the African continental integration of it's resources, economics, politics, cultural life etc.. . . Our forward march towards ever increasing African continental unity was disrupted, disturbed, and derailed (not destroyed), as a consequence of European enslavement and colonization of Africa and her people. The division of the African continent through different artificial borders during colonialism, and the scattering of hundreds of thousands of Africans outside of Africa during the slave trade only helped to advance the interest of European capitalist inside of Europe and America. We must fight for the Unification of the African Continent, and thus all African people in order to advance the interest of the African masses worldwide.

How To Resolve The Plight Of Our People Worldwide

Land is the basis of all Power, Africa is our Land. Until the entire continent of Africa (including it's islands) with all its human and vastly rich natural resources are under the control of the African masses, made up of the revolutionary working, peasant, and intellectual classes, African people everywhere will merely be living at the mercy of foreign interest and not our own. RBG Tools For Analysis

1. Nation-Class Perspective: We must analyze everything from the interests of our African nation (i.e., our homeland Africa and our people, Africans) and also in the interests of the oppressed, exploited African masses. We must always try to analyze the nation/class interests involved in everything; historical present-day, and future. Thus it is clear that anywhere you find racism (national oppression) and class exploitation, they must be fought against.

2. There is positive and negative in everything: We must always try to identify opposing forces in everything. We must look for the positive forces and the negative forces in all social processes; at all levels, and in all aspects. When we say positive, we mean those forces which are in line with our goal (Pan Africanism, one unified socialist Africa) and our ideology (Nkrumahism Toureism). When we say negative, we mean anything that is opposed to our goal and ideology.

3. Change is constant: Everything changes: It is the struggle between the positive and negative forces in everything that produces change. We must look for the movement and direction of movement in all things because everything is in motion, although at different rates and speed. Change that occurs slow and gradual without violent or sudden jumps is called evolutionary; while change that occurs rapidly, violently, or with a sudden leap is called revolutionary change (if the change is total and some new quality or state of being occurs). From this we can see then that revolution is a way for man to consciously speed up his positive development. Conflict that causes change is either antagonistic, (violent, principled, intense) or non-antagonistic (non-violent, tactical, less intense and hostile).

4. Always look for the new in the old.

6. Always remember that the masses are the makers of history. This will help us properly understand the role of heroes and individuals as only catalysts in the historical development of mankind. We know that history is only changed and moved forward through the collective activity of the working, struggling masses of the people.

7. Matter is primary: We know that both matter and mind (spirit) exist, but that matter is primary, and all that is "spiritual" (i.e., not matter) arises from matter. Ideas, attitudes, etc. always arise from specific concrete conditions which must be looked at and understood to properly understand the impact of the ideas, attitudes, ideologies, etc. on the concrete material world.

8. Remember that history is a process, not a series of unconnected events. Look for the interconnection between all social/historical forces. History is also subjective. In other words, while we understand that what has happened and what is happening is objective (factual, independent of man's will), the interpretation or emphasis given to history always reflects the outlook or interests of a particular nation and a particular class, at a particular time in history.

9. The basis or cause for change is internal; i.e., the internal qualities of a thing determine the kind of change it can or does go through. The conditions for change are external; i.e., the changes that a thing goes through are greatly affected by the environment or conditions around it and outside of it.

The Final Call Chronicles: Hurricane Ike Aftermath Part 1

On Sunday, September 14, I drove back to Houston from Austin which was 24 hours after Hurricane Ike ripped through my hometown. I wanted to check on my family members who remained back, investigate any damages to my home, visit with members of Muhammad Mosque No. 45, check out our Mosque property and of course I wanted to take pictures along with interviewing storm victims for the Final Call Newspaper. (pictured below with a fallen tree) I filled up my tank before leaving and I was planning to fill up several gas cans and place them in my trunk. But I was rushing and FORGOT! Can you believe that? And I didn't think about it until I got half way down 290 East. Boy I knew that was going to present a problem later on. In route to Houston, the traffic was moving swiftly but the gas stations were packed and lines stretched for miles. I even personally witnessed a fight at one station at a gas pump! Once I got into the city, the destructive sting of Hurricane Ike was no mystery. I immediately lost my cell phone signal, all tollways were FREE of charge, and people were packing highways trying to go in the opposite direction. (mosaic collage below) Within my subdivision in Missouri City, Texas, thousands of tress were prostrating, split in half, or sitting in the middle of the road. Just about every home lost their fence. My personal home is still standing and the backyard (pictured below) looks like a war zone...but no major damages at all. And no electricity, so it was super hot in the house. I then headed over to one of the hardest hit areas in the city. That's 3rd Ward. So many damaged properties and huge trees were UPROOTED and landed on homes. Schools and popular local businesses were hit hard by the 100+mph winds. The famous Mac Gregor Park (pictured below) has shattered trees everywhere...who knows when we will get to gather there again anytime soon. In a rare move, I had my radio on 97.9 The Boxx (I'm not a radio listener) and they were calling out the locations for gas stations that were refilled because gas was completely out within the city limits. People were panicking and sitting in line for over a hour just to fill up their gas tank. Gas stations were wrapped in yellow tape like a murder had taken place. (see pictures below) I drove up and down the streets shooting hundreds of photos and interviewing people. I shot some video coverage as well, that I will be posting to my blog real soon. I made it to the grounds of Muhammad's Mosque No. 45 (Pictured Below) and there were two huge trees that fell in the back yard by our Regional House and in our neighbor's yard, minor single displacements, but no major damage. Tons of debris to clean up too. Our sign was knocked down and bent up. But we may be able to host our first meeting post-Ike this coming Sunday. (See Pictures below) I then headed to the Northeast side of Houston, which looks just as bad as 3rd Ward. So, you ask, how much energy is required to create, and then direct, storms? The answer to that question depends upon many factors, but let us tell you how much capability has been built into the newly created power transmission station in remote Alaska. These power transmission towers are not your typical towers, as they are designed to generate power in such a way that it is beamed up into the ionosphere in tremendous quantities.

"The $30 million [Pentagon] project, euphemistically named HAARP (High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program), is made to beam more than 1.7 gigawatts (billion watts) of radiated power into the ionosphere -- the electrically charged layer above Earth's atmosphere. Put simply, the apparatus is a reversal of a radio telescope -- just transmitting instead of receiving. It will 'boil the upper atmosphere'. After [heating] and disturbing the ionosphere, the radiations will bounce back onto the earth in for form of long waves which penetrate our bodies, the ground and the oceans." Let us allow Dr. Begich explain this concept. "... this invention provides the ability to put unprecedented amounts of power in the Earth's atmosphere at strategic locations and to maintain the power injection level, particularly if random pulsing is employed, in a manner far more precise and better controlled than heretofore accomplished by the prior art ...." [Page 28]

"... the goal is to learn how to manipulate the ionosphere on a more grand scale than the the Soviet Union could do with its similar facilities. HAARP would be the largest ionospheric heater in the world, located in a latitude most conducive to putting Eastlund's invention into practice." [Page 29] Furthermore, from this northern latitude, the energy could be aimed into the ionosphere so that it would bounce back down to the earth so it would come down wherever the scientists wanted it to come down. The secret was to learn how and where to aim it to hit the earth where they wanted it to hit, creating the type of disaster or weather they desired.

In a nutshell, this is the nucleus of the expertise just recently acquired to control the weather. By pouring measured energy that has been focussed into certain parts of the ionosphere, scientists can create all kinds of storms like hurricanes, thunderstorms, floods, tornadoes, and drought. In NEWS1198, "U.N. Treaty Proves Weather Control Is Real", we report news articles that Malaysia actually contracted with a Russian Weather Modification company to create a hurricane that would be directed close enough to clear the smoke and smog from Malaysia's cities without actually coming on to land to create devastation. This Russian company delivered, and Malaysia had clear skies.

Our information also tells us that, not only can hurricanes be created, they can be dismantled should scientists so desire. And, they certainly can be driven on the ocean much like we drive our cars on roadways. Therefore, one has to ask why American scientists have allowed unprecedented hurricanes, like Andrew, to ever come on shore. Why are American scientists allowing extensive damage and lives lost to recent unprecedented storms, since they have the capability to keep these storms away from us?

That’s why New Afrikan people, young and old alike, have to make a militant commitment to fight for National Liberation and Self Determination. History borns out the fact that in it relations to Afrikan people the U.S. States (Snakes) has been a legacy of hypocrisy, repression, slavery, racism, suffering and death. What you see them doing in the photo-story I made above to introduce this lesson they have been doing to us for 400 years, ie. Genocide.

Meanwhile, in view of the fact that most of us will forever live and die old in Amerikkka , if it still exist (the North American Union vs a nuclear holocaust), we must fight hand, tooth and nail to see to this empire re-instituting and living up to the Constitution. We must cherish the Constitution and the fundamental freedoms it protects until such time as we draw up and enact our own. This is absolutely necessary to do not only for us, but more importantly, for our children and our yet to be born.

Why Were these 100 Documents Chosen?

The list begins with the Lee Resolution of June 7, 1776, a simple document resolving that the United Colonies “are, and of right, ought to be free and independent states. . .” and ends with the Voting Rights Act of 1965, a statute that helped fulfill the promise of freedom inherent in the first documents on the list. The remaining milestone documents are among the thousands of public laws, Supreme Court decisions, inaugural speeches, treaties, constitutional amendments, and other documents that have influenced the course of U.S. history. They have helped shape the national character, and they reflect our diversity, our unity, and our commitment as a nation to continue our work toward forming “a more perfect union.”

The decision not to include milestone documents since 1965 was a deliberate acknowledgement of the difficulty in examining more recent history. As stated in the guidelines for the National History Standards, developed by the National Center for History in the Schools, “Historians can never attain complete objectivity, but they tend to fall shortest of the goal when they deal with current or very recent events.”

Dred Scott v. Sandford (1857)- The Court's most important decision on slavery. Missouri slave Dred Scott claimed freedom when his master took him to the Wisconsin Territory, where slavery had been abolished. In a 50-page opinion, Chief Justice Roger Taney said Scott was still a slave and declared that blacks were "so far inferior that they had no rights which the white man was bound to respect." Taney's decision infuriated northerners and helped lead to the election of Abraham Lincoln as president in 1860.

Emancipation Proclamation (1862) - Undeniably a tool used by Lincoln to vanquish the South, the proclamation freed slaves in Confederate states but not those in the Union. Relying on the researches of Alexander Marshack, Carleton Coon, Konrad Lorenz, S.L. Washburn, Ralph Solecki and others, Bradley offers a persuasive argument that the white race, the Neanderthal-Caucasoids, are more aggressive than other groups because of ancient sexual maladaption. Ironically enough, The Iceman Inheritance was very favourably received after its initial Canadian publication in December 1978.

Dr. Judith Posner, an anthropology professor at Toronto’s York University, had written in her Introduction: “The Iceman Inheritance is a worthy model to keep in mind when reviewing the long range of human history, and especially when looking into the future.” Several other anthropologists, sociologists and historians were equally encouraging. All agreed that the argument of The Iceman Inheritance was well worth an airing and objective assessment.

The book was immediately excerpted by three major Canadian daily newspapers: the Globe and Mail (Toronto, 2 pages), The Calgary Herald (1 page) and the Ottawa Journal (1 page). About twenty U.S. newspapers also excerpted it, or else wrote long and generally very favourable reviews. The book was seen as a new and valuable insight into the pattern of human history.

There were some experts who disagreed with the theory, of course, but two observations were hard to shrug off. First, every single modern political boundary on earth has been drawn or dictated by Caucasians. Second, I provided an anthropological map of “the Iceman’s inheritance” which showed the inexorable Caucasian expansion from 100,000 years ago to now. This made a good TV graphic.

I was interviewed by Tom Snyder on NBC’s coast-to-coast “Tomorrow” television talk show (the other guest was Bill Cosby) while the book was being promoted at the annual Convention of the American Anthropological Association held in Los Angeles in 1979. I was invited to give a multi-part presentation to the Princeton University Institute for Advanced Study (Symposium on Alternative Futures). This was covered by CBC Radio’s prestigious “Ideas” series.

A major North American publisher, Warner Books (later Times-Warner), bought the mass-market paperback rights in late 1979 and quickly put out an edition that sold 40,000 copies in the first two weeks.

Real Talk With Brothas Keepa / The King Alferd Plan ( Rex-84) Myth or Reality, A Discussion with RBG Street Scholar,Feat. Lecture by Pastor Ray Hagin

The King Alfred Plan is most visibly presented online as a fictional CIA-led scheme supporting an international effort to eliminate people of Afrikan descent. Specifically it defines how to deal with the threat of a Black/ New Afrikan uprising in the USA by cordoning off Black citizens into concentration camps in the event of a major racial incident.

The Plan first appeared in John A. Williams' 1967 novel, The Man Who Cried I Am, a fictionalized account of the life and death of Richard Wright. In the afterword to later editions, Williams compares the King Alfred Plan to intelligence programs devised by J. Edgar Hoover in the 1960s (cointelpro) to monitor the movements of black militants.
The deflector story goes like this "when his novel was first published, Williams photocopied portions of the book detailing the King Alfred Plan and left copies in subway car seats around Manhattan. As a result, word of the King Alfred Plan spread throughout the Black Community and the truth of its existence was often assumed to be unchallenged." Doesn't this sound like a strangely familiar age old disclaimer/deflection story. Like the government denying the CIA flooding our communities with cocaine while doing murder in Central America or their not having anything to do with poisoning our communities with heroin during the 1960s while committing genocide on the Vietnamese people...Blah Blah Blah is my response to this train story.

Our Brotha and master poet-scholar Gil Scott Heron wrote a song about the King Alfred Plan on his album Free Will in 1972 that first brought the plan to the masses attention on a grand scale. Since that time the Police State nature of Amerikkka has escalated in an unprecedented manner, while at the same time the consciousness of the masses of the people regarding our historical and ongoing oppression is becoming more elevated... "Freedom or Death is the Question. The moment of truth is upon us."

The purpose of this presentation is to enable you to evaluate the validity of such a plan for yourself base on our discussion, video presentation and the data herein. Is "The King Alfred Plan" myth or reality? "Is it the ranting of a bunch of conspiracy theorists or more evidence of the United Snakes Government's ultimate plan to declare martial law?"

Our enemies press closer, seeking the advantage, possibly at a time during one of these outbreaks of violence. The Minority has adopted an almost military posture to gain its objectives, which are not clear to most Americans. It is expected, therefore, that when those objectives are denied the Minority, racial war must be considered inevitable. When that emergency comes, we must expect the total involvement of all 22 million members of the Minority, men, women, and children, for once this project is launched, its goal is to terminate, once and for all, the Minority threat to the whole of the American society, and indeed, the Free World.

It is necessary to use the Minority leaders designated by the President in much the same manner in which we use Minority members who are agents with Central and Federal, and we cannot, until there is no alternative, reveal King Alfred in all its aspects. Minority members of Congress will be unseated at once. This move is not without precedent in American history.

Preliminary Memo: Department of Defense

This memo is being submitted in lieu of a full report from the Joint Chiefs of Staff. That report is now in preparation. There will be many cities where the Minority will be able to put into the street a superior number of people with a desperate and dangerous will. He will be a formidable enemy, for he is bound to the Continent by heritage and knows that political asylum will not be available to him in other countries. The greatest concentration of the Minority is in the Deep South, the Eastern seaboard, the Great lakes region and the West Coast. While the national population exceeds that of the Minority by more than ten times, we must realistically take into account the following:

1 - An estimated 40-50 percent of the white population will not, for various reasons, engage the Minority during an Emergency.

2 - American Armed Forces are spread around the world. A breakout of war abroad means fewer troops at home to handle the Emergency.

3 - Local law enforcement officials must contain the Emergency until help arrives, though it may mean fighting a superior force. New York City, for example, has a 25,000 man police force, but there are about one million Minority members in the city.

We are confident that the Minority would hold any city it took for only a few hours. The lack of weapons, facilities, logistics --- all put the Minority at a final disadvantage.

Since the Korean War, this department has shifted Minority members of the Armed Forces to areas where combat is most likely to occur, with the aim of eliminating, through combat, as many combat-trained military servicemen as possible. Today the ratio of Minority member combat deaths in Vietnam, where they are serving as “advisors,” is twice as high as the Minority population ratio to the rest of America.

Below is the timetable for King Alfred as tentatively suggested by the JCS who recommend that the operation be made over a period of eight hours:

1. Local police and Minority leaders in action to head off the Emergency.

2. Countdown to eight hours begins at the moment the President determines the Emergency to be:
a. National
b. Coordinated
c. Of Long Duration 8th hour

3. County police join local police 7th hour

4. State police join county and local police 6th hour

5. Federal marshals join state, county, and local forces 5th hour

6. National guards federalized, held in readiness 4th hour

7. Regular Armed Forces alerted, take up positions; Minority troops divided and detained, along with all white sympathizers, under guard 3rd hour

8. All minority leaders, national and local detained 2nd hour

9. President addresses Minority on radio-television, gives it one hour to end the Emergency 1st hour

10. All units under regional commands into the Emergency 0 hour

“0” Committee Report:
Survey shows that during a six-year period, production created 9,000,000 objects, or 1,500,000 each year. Production could not dispose of the containers, which proved a bottleneck. However, that was almost 20 years ago. We suggest that vaporization techniques be employed to overcome the production problems inherent in King Alfred.

(The “0” Committee Report is referring to the problems that occurred in Nazi Germany when the furnaces were not hot enough to burn the bodies that Hitler had killed. The bodies clogged up the furnaces thereby causing a problem that the above committee recommends avoiding by building high-volume (nuclear-powered) incinerators that burn 5,000 degrees. It should be noted that steel melts at approximately 2700 degrees!)

NALF

Black Nationalist Organizations Unite at Historic Atlanta Summit

After two years of negotiation, representatives of several political prisoner defense committees, women's groups, labor organizations, human rights groups and community-based formations met in Atlanta, Georgia, on August 18-19, 1995, to hammer out a set of working principles and agendas to unite the various Black nationalist political tendencies within the U.S.

The New Afrikan Liberation Front (NALF) is in many respects the response to the political demand made by such celebrated Republic of New Afrika , Black Panther Party, and Black Liberation Army prisoners of war as Dr. Mutulu Shakur, Sekou Odinga, Geronomo Pratt, and Jalil Muntaqin. These freedom fighters called for the formation of an umbrella organization which could coordinate the varied political activities of the constituent bodies in what is often referred to as the Black nationalist community.

"The objective of the NALF is to politically engage and organize the nationalist community into an effective foil to both Black liberal and Black conservative political leadership today," explained Herman Ferguson, a founding member and head of the Administrative Unit of the NALF. "We stand as a fighting political alternative to both the Jesse Jacksons and the Clarence Thomases who we feel mislead and betray the political aspirations of oppressed Black people in this country," Ferguson said. The NALF coalesced around the slogan "Black Power, Land and Independence." As such, each constituent member of the Front is committed to attaining "self-determination for the descendants of enslaved Africans-whom the Front denotes as 'New Afrikans'-and international recognition of the New Afrikan nation's right to sovereignty and political independence."

The NALF will initiate its coordinated activities by launching a nationwide campaign to pressure the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) to open congressional investigations and hearings on the role of the FBI and other police agencies in the assault on the Black Power Movement during the 1960s and '70s. Under the FBI's COINTELPRO (counter-intelligence program) hundreds of Black activists across the U.S. were murdered, jailed, or driven into political exile. COINTELPRO was a coordinated government campaign to destroy the Black nationalist movement.

The NALF seeks internationally-recognized prisoner-of-war (POW) status for the scores of activists who still remain behind bars today. It also demands amnesty for these unjustly imprisoned Black men and women. "Given the congressional attention given the FBI's botched raid on the white supremacist encampment of Randy Weaver-the government granted a $3 million our-of-court settlement for the killing of Weaver's wife and son-Black legislators would be remiss in remaining silent about similar government atrocities which were and continue to be deliberately carried out against Black activists," said Ferguson.

The NALF recently sent a representative to the Beijing, China, International Women's Conference as part of its ongoing campaign to internationalize the struggle of Black people in the U.S. and to expose the systematic human rights abuses perpetrated against Black people here today. Likewise, the NALF has put its case before the United Nations and human rights conferences in Europe and Africa.

The New Afrikan Liberation Front is optimistic about the outcome of its ongoing activities. Explained Ferguson, "Many people believed that Eastern Europe would remain under Soviet domination forever. But in the space of only a few years, nobody even thinks about the Soviet Union anymore. It's gone. That tells us something. For just as the U.S. had dominated New Afrikans, Indians, Puerto Ricans, Mexicans, Hawaiians, and others for centuries, it doesn't have to be that way forever." Ferguson added that "If we work hard and take care of the day-to-day needs of New Afrikans, while fighting for a revolutionary nationalist political agenda, then we can win. There will be freedom for the New Afrikan nation."

Principles of Unity of the NALF

1. Land.
The primary objective of the NALF is self-determination through a national liberation struggle for land (territory within the historic southeastern Black Belt), independence and reparations.

2. Who is the enemy?
For over 400 years, our nation has been enslaved, first by the European settlers in North America, and currently we are colonized by the political descendants of those settlers, represented by the government of the United States of America. We are united in fighting for the destruction of imperialism and white supremacy, the twin evils of our national oppression which is forced on our Nation by the U.S. imperialist State.

3. Self-defense/Armed Struggle.
We recognize the right to self-defense as well as the right to armed struggle for self-determination.

4. Political Prisoners/POWs/Exiles.
We seek amnesty for prisoners of war, political prisoners, and exiles as a non-negotiable self-determination demand.

5. Social liberation.
The fight against racial, sexist, class, and all forms of social oppression is fundamental to New Afrikan/Black self-determination.

6. Unity and autonomy of organizations-methods of resolving contradictions.
We accept the leadership and discipline of the NALF as determined by a consensus of its membership organizations.
The ideological integrity and autonomy of each organization within the NALF is mutually respected. We will practice constructive criticism and self-criticism for the purpose of resolving contradictions and internal differences.

7. A New Afrikan Consciousness Movement.
We recognize that culture is a weapon of resistance. In that light we are committed to building a movement to develop the national consciousness and culture of the New Afrikan people.

8. Our cultural symbols.
We recognize the Red, Black and Green flag, the new Afrikan creed, the New Afrikan Declaration of Independence and the Code of Umoja as the unifying historical and cultural symbols of our New Afrikan Liberation Front and our independence movement.

THE NEW AFRIKAN NATION

All across the nation, Black people generally, and revolutionaries in particular, are under attack by every branch of the enemy's law enforcement troops. Our nation is clearly under a state of siege unparalleled in recent memory. Our political prisoners and prisoners of war languish in our enemies prisons, many of them well into their third decade of incarceration with no indication that amnesty or clemency will be offered during their lifetime.
Albert Noah Washington is dying of terminal cancer in a New York State prison. Yet the governor refuses to commute his sentence to time served so he can spend his last few weeks with his family. Mumia Abu-Jamal continues to fight valiantly for his life from death row in Pennsylvania. Low level warfare increases in intensity both behind the walls and outside the walls and the casualty rate grows larger with each passing day.

The recent move on our revered senior freedom fighter Brother Jalil Al-Amin is a clear indication that the government's Cointelpro is still alive and more vicious than ever. Freedom Fighters are its number one target with the Black Liberation Movement and the New Afrikan Independence Movement receiving the full force of its military machinery. Brother Al-Amin was closely identified with that period of time when the Black Nation was up in arms and the battle cry was "Burn Baby Burn!" Although Brother Al-Amin has utilized his talents for the past 32 years in building a self-reliant Muslim community in Atlanta, Georgia, the Cointelpro had marked him as a revolutionary leader, and this label was to remain with him, in their assessment, for all of his natural life. This accounts for the continuous surveillance he has been kept under, and the attempts at entrapment, which he has so skillfully avoided, until recently. As far as the enemy is concerned they have finally brought down a potential revolutionary messiah who, if he decided, could re-appear on the scene firing up the masses and re-invigorating the old battle cry "Burn Baby Burn!" One of the major goals of the Cointelpro was to keep any charismatic revolutionary leader fro emerging who could galvanize and organize the masses of Black folks into a revolutionary army capable of waging a national liberation struggle. This move on Brother Al-Amin drives home the point that once targeted by the government's Cointelpro, there is no let up until the targeted person has been rendered null and void. The strategy of the enemy has taken on a new dimension.

The counterintelligence program that has worked so well in our community since the 1920's, relying largely on the cooperation of an army of negro snitches, is no longer producing the desired results, as the masses of our people have begun to become more politically astute and more determined to express their simmering anger through organized self-defense tactics that Malcolm X spoke about. Because of this new awakening, these Judas goats can no longer be relied on by their white masters to keep the New Afrikan Independence Movement contained. The unleashing of the police on the Black communities across amerika has signaled that the war has moved to a more virulent stage where the police have been tasked with provoking our people into a spontaneous reaction which will result in the use of the army, with its more processionally trained killers, to destroy our growing national liberation movement, In the face of all the evidence, which clearly shows our Black Nation is facing a military crisis, the New Afrikan Liberation Front takes the position that our nation cannot put any trust or reliability in slave mentality politicians, weak-kneed preachers, accommodationists, collaborationists, integrationists, or any of the turn-the-other-cheek organizations to speak for us. These individuals and organizations are traitors and lackeys for their slave masters. They sell us out for a few crumbs and access to the 6 o'clock news where they buck dance and brown nose for all to see.

We feel that it is only the New Afrikan Liberation Movement (NAIM), that can speak for the masses of our people. The people want liberation. So does the NAIM. The people want self-determination. So does the NAIM. The people want the capability to defend themselves against police invasion and terror. So does the NAIM. The people want land and a government that they control. So does the NAIM. The National Liberation Front applauds these demands and is a part of the struggle to make them a reality. The New Afrikan Liberation Front is fully committed to supporting Brother Al-Amin in any way the New Afrikan Independence Movement and the brother himself call for. He has been a staunch and consistent defender of the right of Black people to self-defense and self-determination. Never once has he compromised these principles. His love for his brothers and sisters has never wavered over the past 32 years.

We call on all conscious New Afrikans to support Brother Al-Amin unconditionally.

Organize People's Militias in every Black community.
Defeat this new wave of state terrorism.
Take back our streets.

Right about now, there is a resurgence of consciousness in Hip Hop. It reminds me of what was once known as "The Golden Age of Hip Hop". This new consciousness is evidenced in the rise of Dead Prez, Talib Kweli, Paris, Zion I, Common, Mystic, Mos Def, Encore, Shamako Noble, Immortal Technique, the new tracks by MC Ren, and others. This is a beautiful thing to watch, and something that makes me proud to see.

The Black Panther Party for Self Defense used to have a ten point program to rebuild the Black community. It was something to help keep the Black community focused on how freedom was to be achieved. Unfortunately, the masses did not listen to them as well as they should have and many people lost out due a lack of follow though.

What follows is a twelve point program Adisa constructed in hope of rejuvenating the Hip Hop community and industry across the board. He states "I believe without fail that if these ideas are put into action that Hip Hop will gain a higher status in the minds of those who love it as well as in the hearts of those who hate it". This list can be used by anybody (regardless of race, faith, or culture) who is an MC/rapper. But for those that TRY to be conscious.

1. Stop the cursing. If you are going to reach the people, you need to be refined lyrically. You will have one up on radio industry who tries to ignore you. You must also make yourself loved by the parents of the children who love Hip Hop. Keeping it clean on wax is an easy way to gain an upper hand in the streets and in the industry at the same time. Plus you don't have to always make clean versions of everything- so it saves you money. In the movie Malcolm X's original mentor says that a man curses because he does not have the tools to tell you what’s really on his mind. So chill out and tell us whats on your mind. Gangstarr's "Step Into the Arena" is a perfect example of how you can stay REAL and not curse.

2. Stop using the word "nigga". The word "nigger/nigga" was a lyrical tool of empowerment for the Hip Hop movement during the late 80's and early 90's. It came at a time when Black people needed to counter the hateful words being put upon them for so long. Now, the word has indeed been diluted in its power (it does not hurt most Black people to be called that name anymore). However, it also lost its painful historical relevence. We need to remind people of where the word came from, so it is never taken lightly. If you are unclear on the history of it, go read "100 Years of Lynchings" by Ralph Ginzburg.

3. Read. The more you know, the more you can rap about. Read about the history of your people as well as the histories and cultures of others. Nobody is asking you to become Nerdball McGee- but you should open a book. Choose a topic and go learn something you did not know the day before. Then bring that into Hip Hop. Ice Cube, KRS ONE and Tupac Shakur were arguably at their best when they were reading.

4. Rap about YOUR Struggle. MC's and rappers, who are remembered, are story tellers. Slick Rick, Ice Cube, Tupac and Rakim are able to bring you into their world and allow you to see from behind their eyes. This should be your goal as an MC. Tell us about your Fam, your area, your personal journey in a way that no one else can tell it. If you cannot do that, you will certainly fail to impress and inspire. Tell us about your city. Nobody cared about the Queens, Compton, or Vallejo until MC Shan, Eazy E, and E-40 told the world stories about where they came from.

5. Stop following trends, create them. The rap industry tries to create cookie cutter rappers now. They all come complete with pimp cups, loc's butt naked women and saggy pants. That has its place. But we need more people pushing the lyrical envelope. Brothers and sisters don't try to flow with originality anymore. They just try to copy a carbon copy. Do not be afraid to find out who you are and challenge the trends across the board. N.W.A., Biggie Smalls, Beastie Boys, Common, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Public Enemy, Kwame, Paris, De La Soul, Queen Latifah, and Eminem (YES, I said EMINEM) all take creative chances musically and lyrically. From your look to your flow, be original in your life and on wax.

6.Respect Women This is a subject that cannot be discussed too much. We need to stop using the word bitch and hoe (I'm talking to myself as well as y'all). We need to stop objectifying all women. By undermining them, we undermine the cornerstone of all civilization. This is a serious thing. You can still make a dope jam and show respect to the women. Remember that every "hoe" and "bitch" is someone else’s sister, daughter, mother- maybe even yours. So clean yourself up. I'm not asking you to take estrogen shots, watch Oprah 24/7 and wear a wig. Just show some respect.

7. Don't forget to rock the party. This is a major problem in Hip Hop. Most of the MC's who try to be conscious. They get so caught up in their mission that they forget to have fun. If all you do is spit politics and stuff, people never get to see you shine creatively. Show the people you have skills to rock the party, and then give them something to take home.

8. Learn an instrument. Since its inception Hip Hop has gotten far by sampling. The record industry has come down hard on us at times for doing it. Sampling has served its purpose, but it is time to show the world our full creativity. Learn an instrument for yourself. If you do, you will gain a new respect for those you sample and you'll get new insights on how to make music for yourself.

9. Listen to all kinds of music from the past. This is crucial. Part of the reason Hip Hop is so stale is because Hip Hop only listens to Hip Hop, nowdays. Chuck D, Mix Master Mike, DJ QBERT, KRS ONE, P Ditty Poor Righteous Teachers, Premier, Jungle Brothers, Marly Marl, Timbaland, DJ Quick, Dr. Dre all listen to other forms of music. You should also read the biographies of some of these artists as well (something I'm about to get into). They listen to Jazz, Reggae, Blues, Rock, Heavy Metal, Symphony, Salsa, Zen flutes etc.This is a BIG part of what makes them great. Now, go be great!!!

10. Acknowledge the beauty of the other Hip Hop elements. This is a HUGE problem. Sometimes I think it is talked about too much. But the bottom line is that if you don't have a full appreciation for graf writing, b-boy'ing, popping, locking, and turntablism you are missing a lot of tools that you can both learn from and incporporate into your shows. A lot of people confuse appreciation of these elements with being a hippy or dealing with things that are not "real". Nothing could be farther from the truth. Don't sleep on that.

11. Choose a Cause. Once you know who you are, it is important that you ask yourself "What will I champion in Hip Hop besides my lyrics". You care about education? Poverty issues? Are you just a party MC? Are you gonna champion your culture? Politics? Child abuse? Domestic violence? WHAT?!?!? Choose a cause then make sure you mention it from time to time. NOT ON EVERY SONG- because you will turn people off.

12. Never forget the poor. This music is from them, for them, forever. Knowing that fact always, IS KEEPING IT REAL.

Amiri Baraka

Amiri Baraka studied philosophy and religious studies at Rutgers University, Columbia University and Howard University without obtaining a degree. In 1954 he joined the US Air Force reaching the rank of sergeant. After an anonymous letter to his commanding officer accusing him of being a communist led to the discovery of Soviet writings, Baraka was put on gardening duty and given a dishonorable discharge for violation of his oath of duty. The same year he moved to Greenwich Village working initially in a warehouse for music records. From this period stems his interest in jazz. At the same time he came into contact with the incipient movement of Beat Poets that was going to have a powerful influence on his early poetry. In 1958, Jones founded Totem Press, which published such Beat icons as Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg. The same year he married Hettie Cohen and with her became joint editor of the Yugen literary magazine (until 1963).

In 1960 he went to Cuba, a visit that initiated his transformation into a politically active artist. In 1961 Preface to a Twenty Volume Suicide Note was published, followed in 1963 by Blues People: Negro Music in White America - to this day one of the most influential volumes of jazz criticism, especially in regard to the then beginning Free Jazz movement. His play Dutchman premiered in 1964 and the same year he won an Obie Award for it. After the killing of Malcolm X he broke with the Beat Poets, left his wife and their two children and moved to Harlem because, at the time, he thought of himself as a black cultural nationalist.

Herman Ferguson

Herman Ferguson was a prominent member of Malcolm X's Muslim Mosque Inc. and later his Organization of Afro-American Unity (OAAU). Malcolm X created both organizations in 1964, after leaving the Nation of Islam. Ferguson met Malcolm after he and other African-Americans in Queens set up the Rochdale Movement, which sought to stop the construction of a new housing development in Queens.

In 1959, New York City was set to erect Rochdale Village on the site of the Old Jamaica racetrack in Queens, but word soon got out that Blacks would not be hired to build the site and would be excluded from living in any of the developments' soon-to-be available 5,280 apartments. The Rochdale Movement couldn't halt the construction of the development, but it went on to become a major voice on issues of economic and community development for Blacks in Queens.

The Rochdale Movement caught the attention of Nation of Islam members working in Queens. So when Ferguson attended one of Malcolm X's services at his Mosque No. 7 in Harlem and then asked if Malcolm would be interested in coming to speak at a rally in St. Albans, Queens, the minister welcomed the invitation." Max Stanford

The Revolutionary Action Movement (RAM) was the only secular political organization that Malcolm X joined before his fateful trip to Mecca in 1964. Early in 1963, Malcolm took the young Philadelphia militant Max Stanford under his wing. During the last few years of Malcolm's life, few persons were as closely associated with him as was the young Max Stanford. Stanford was a student militant who had influenced both the National Student Youth movement and the Students for a Democratic Society in the early 1960s with a vision of radical black nationalism. Stanford fused the thought of Robert F. Williams on armed self defense with the philosophy of Malcolm X on black self-determination. To these tenets, Stanford added a sophisticated Marxian revolutionary philosophy, which he derived from a close personal association with the legendary Queen Mother Audley Moore. Malcolm put his blessings on Stanford's Revolutionary Action Movement by becoming an officer of the organization. Among the most important of Stanford's contributions were his assistance to Amiri Baraka and the Newark, New Jersey, movement, his support for members of the Black Liberation Army under Assata Shakur, and his encouragement of the League of Revolutionary Black Workers in Detroit. He was influential in efforts to encourage Robert F. Williams to assume a nationally prominent leadership role upon Williams return from exile in China. Stanford helped found the African Liberation Support Committee and promoted the concept of "reparations" to descendants of American slavery. And he remained an important voice of criticism of Black Panther strategies of the 1970s. He established the African Peoples Party in the early 1970s in an effort to keep the flame of revolutionary nationalism alive. While underground he embraced Islam and since the early 1970s, he has been known as Muhammad Ahmad. February 21 marked the 40th anniversary of Malcolm X's assassination. Only 39 years old at the time of his murder, Malcolm X would have turned 80 on May 19 of this year.

Today, while the mass mobilizations of the civil rights movement in the 1960s did away with legally-codified racism, in the 40 years since Malcolm's death the underlying economic roots of racial inequality have not gone away. In fact, the social conditions facing many African Americans have worsened.

According to the U.S. census bureau, the official poverty rate for White Americans is a high 8.1%. However, the rate for Black Americans is an enormous 24.1%. In the U.S., which has the world's largest imprisoned population both in absolute numbers and as a percentage of total population, black people account for just over 12% of the total population but over 44% of the prison population.

Enduring realities like these led Malcolm X to claim "the system in this country cannot produce freedom for an Afro-American. It is impossible for this system, this economic system, this social system, this system period."

More Than a Nationalist

Malcolm X is most widely known as a leader of the black nationalist Nation of Islam. What is less known is that in the last year of his life Malcolm left the Nation and his political views changed drastically.

As the civil rights movement began to pick up steam in the early 1960s, Malcolm's will to participate in politics ran up against the conservatism of Nation leaders who wanted to remain a mostly religious and cultural organization. By 1964, the corruption of Nation leader Elijah Muhammad and developments in Malcolm's political thinking led him to leave the organization that had trained him as a leader and an organizer.

During the 50 weeks between Malcolm's split from the Nation of Islam and his murder, his ideas and political methods changed rapidly. Malcolm began to move away from the rigid black nationalism of the Nation of Islam.

On his trip to Africa in 1964, Malcolm met non-blacks who he considered "true revolutionaries dedicated to overthrowing the system of exploitation that exists on this earth by any means necessary." Reflecting on his experiences in foreign countries, Malcolm said, "I had to do a lot of thinking and reappraising of my definition of black nationalism. Can we sum up the solution to the problems confronting our people as black nationalism? And if you noticed, I haven't been using the expression for several months."

Malcolm's Development as a Revolutionary

During the last year of his life, Malcolm moved towards recognizing the system of capitalism as the root cause of the oppression and indignities suffered by African Americans. Though he never rejected Islam, he stopped doing his political organizing on a religious basis. In June 1964, he founded the secular Organization of Afro-American Unity.

At the OAAU's founding rally, Malcolm stated "we want equality by any means necessary." In a 1964 speech, he said "you can't have capitalism without racism." Malcolm never became a socialist and he never broke with some of the conservative ideas he had acquired early in his life. However, at the time of his death the trajectory of his political thought was towards anti-capitalism, internationalism, and revolution.

Those who misrepresent Malcolm X as an anti-white racist do so only by ignoring much of what he actually said.

In January 1965, he said "I believe that there will ultimately be a clash between the oppressed and those that do the oppressing. I believe that there will be a clash between those who want freedom, justice, and equality for everyone and those who want to continue the systems of exploitation... It is incorrect to classify the revolt of the Negro as simply a racial conflict of black against white, or as a purely American problem. Rather, we are today seeing a global rebellion of the oppressed against the oppressor, the exploited against the exploiter."

Malcolm's identification of the economic and political system of global capitalism as the underlying basis of racial oppression and his arguments in favor of international political struggle anticipated the worldwide growth of revolutionary movements in the late 1960s.

Malcolm was a leader with serious credibility among the most militant sections of African Americans and with an uncompromising commitment to revolutionary change. Any movement he built was not likely to be placated by tokenism or co-opted into big business political parties. Malcolm's founding of a secular, radical political organization prepared to work within the growing civil rights movement represented a real threat to the establishment.

Only half of the 40,000 pages in FBI files on Malcolm X have been made public. Manning Marable, a prominent historian who will soon complete a new biography of Malcolm based on previously unknown material, believes evidence points clearly toward New York City Police and FBI involvement in Malcolm's assassination (Democracy Now interview, 2/21/05). Marable's biography, to be published in 2008, also promises to shed important new light on Malcolm's political trajectory at the end of his life.

Opposition to Imperialism and Independence From the Democratic Party

Having learned first about the government's vicious treatment of black people in the U.S., Malcolm could not help but recognize similar underlying racism in the U.S. government's interventions overseas.

A man who had always survived by his wits, Malcolm understood why President Lyndon Johnson was sending "peace corps to Nigeria and mercenaries to the Congo." He judged U.S. interventions around the world according to the material ambitions of the ruling class rather than the things that politicians said to drum up support. He spoke out against colonialism and apartheid in Africa, the U.S. interventions in the Congo and in Vietnam, and in support of the Cuban Revolution.

Forty years later, there is a lot to learn from the way Malcolm X spoke out and organized against U.S. imperialism. In Malcolm's time, the official, reformist leadership of the civil rights movement at first supported or refused to publicly oppose the Vietnam War (or U.S. interventions in the Congo and the Dominican Republic). Malcolm's opposition was uncompromising, even when public opposition to the war initially confined him to a small minority.

Mainstream civil rights leaders were not prepared to take a principled stand and educate blacks and workers about how these wars and foreign interventions were not in their interests. Instead of leading, it was only after the anti-war movement exploded that some of them followed behind and started campaigning against the Vietnam War.

Following 9/11, the civil rights establishment and liberal black Congressional Democrats played a similarly rotten role. Maxine Waters, John Conyers, Bobby Rush (who was previously a Black Panther leader), Charles Rangel, to name a few, all lined up behind Bush and supported the Afghan War and the "war on terrorism." Again in April 2003, leading Democratic members of the Congressional Black Caucus voted to spend $78 billion for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Malcolm X clearly explained that to win victories from a hostile system, the African American community needs to build a militant and principled movement which cannot rely on either party of big business.

In stark contrast to the leaders of liberal civil rights organizations, he never tried to conceal the role of the two main capitalist parties that continue to dominate U.S. politics. In January 1965, Malcolm said that "the Democratic Party is responsible for the racism that exists in the country, along with the Republican Party."

While the Democratic Party continues to cast itself as the party of blacks, latinos, and the poor, it has kept up the Iraq war and kept down the minimum wage. Malcolm knew well that the Democratic Party has a long history of sending African Americans to war and to prison, while cutting social welfare programs.

In the last election, black Democrats like Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson, who pose as natural leaders of all African Americans, supported John Kerry despite his support for big business policies and his failure to advocate a program which represented the interests of African Americans and working people. The AFL-CIO leaders also gave over $160 million of workers' money to the Kerry campaign.

Blacks, latinos, and workers still need to remember Malcolm's observation that "you put the Democrats first and the Democrats put you last." In the process of building a working-class political force that can take on big business and do away with racism, we should learn from the example and experience of fighters like Malcolm X.
